Zabyrin

Nikolay Vladimirovich Zabyrin was the flight commander of the 106th Guards Fighter Vistula Order of Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky Aviation Regiment, a Guard Lieutenant, the Hero of the Soviet Union. He was on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War since December 25, 1942. He participated in the battles on the Southwestern Front (from October 20, 1943 – the 3rd Ukrainian Front). Since December 1943, he served in the 814th Fighter Aviation Regiment (by order of the NKO of the USSR No. 264 of August 24, 1943 and by Directive of the General Staff No. 514146 of August 25, 1943, renamed the 106th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment). He showed himself as a skillful, determined and courageous fighter pilot. During the period from March 15 to July 15, 1943, Junior Lieutenant Nikolai Zabyrin made 96 sorties, including: escorting attack aircraft and bombers – 24, reconnaissance – 18, storming railway echelons and enemy troops – 2, covering his ground troops – 23, intercepting enemy scouts and bombers and cover of air nodes – 31. He conducted 19 air battles, in which he personally shot down three Focke-Wulf Fw 190 and one Focke-Wulf Fw 189. By order of the 3rd Mixed Aviation Corps dated July 31, 1943, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree. By September 10, 1943, Guards Junior Lieutenant Nikolai Zabyrin flew145 sorties, with a raid of 135 hours. He conducted 45 air battles, in which he personally shot down 8 enemy aircraft. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 27, 1945, for bravery and personal heroism shown during combat missions of the command, for fifteen personally shot down enemy planes Guard Lieutenant Nikolai Vladimirovich Zabyrin was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin (No. 54404) and the Gold Star medal (No. 8619). After the war, he continued to serve in the Air Force. In 1955 he graduated from Air Force Academy (Monino, Moscow region). From April 13, 1957 to October 27, 1959, he commanded the 113th Guards Fighter Carpathian Order of Suvorov Aviation Regiment. Then he was on staff work in the Air Force of the Moscow Military District. Since 1975, Colonel N.V. Zabyrin of the Guards was in reserve.
