Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev was the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Marshal of the Soviet Union, the Hero of Socialist Labor. In October 1935 – October 1936, L.I. Brezhnev served in active military service: he was a cadet of Trans-Baikal Armored School, a political instructor of the tank company of the 14th mechanized Corps in the Trans-Baikal Military District. Since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev was in the active army. He conducted a lot of organizational and political work directly in the formations, units and divisions to mobilize personnel to solve combat tasks. At the Victory Parade in Red Square in Moscow on June 24, 1945, Major General L.I. Brezhnev took part as the commissar of the consolidated regiment of the 4th Ukrainian Front on July 18, 1946, he was discharged into the reserve. Since August 1953, he was in military service again. From March 5 to May 21, 1953 L.I. Brezhnev the Head of the Political Department of the Naval Ministry of the USSR. From May 21, 1953 to February 27, 1954 he was the Deputy Head of the Main Political Directorate of the Soviet Army and Navy. Since February 1954 he was in reserve. From May 7, 1960 to July 15, 1964, he was the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. At the same time since June 22, 1963 he was the Secretary of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Since April 8, 1966, Leonid Brezhnev was the General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee and a member of the Politburo of the CPSU Central Committee, simultaneously since June 16, 1977 the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.
