Nikolay Grigoryevich Antonov was the commander of the mine-blasting platoon of the sapper company of the 22nd Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 6th Guards Tank Corps of the 3rd Guards Tank Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front, a Guard Junior Lieutenant. He was born on May 21, 1924 in the village of Alexandrovka in the Yefremovsky district of the Tula region in the family of an employee. He was Russian. He finished high school. Since 1939 he lived in Moscow. He studied at the railway technical school. From January 1942 he worked at the factory. He was a member of the CPSU since 1968. He was in the Red Army since August 1942. He graduated from Moscow Military Engineering College in 1943. He was the participant of the Great Patriotic War since November 1943. He was the commander of the mine-blasting platoon of the sapper company of the 22nd Guards Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Guards (6th Guards Tank Corps, 3rd Guards Tank Army, 1st Ukrainian Front). Junior Lieutenant Nikolai Antonov distinguished himself in April 1945 when providing the brigade crossing the Teltow Canal near Berlin. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 27, 1945, for the exemplary performance of combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time, Junior Lieutenant Nikolai Grigorievich Antonov was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 7844).
