Bochin

Pyotr Antonovich Bochin was a pilot, the Hero of the Soviet Union. He was born on May 12, 1920 in the village of Kresty in a peasant family. In 1936 he finished a seven-year school and a construction school in Kalinin. He worked as a carpenter, at the same time, he was engaged in an aero club. He was in the Red Army since 1939. He graduated from the Voroshilovgrad Military Aviation School of Pilots. He was in the active army since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. The commander of the aviation link of the 10th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment (270th Bomber Aviation Division, 8th Air Army, Southern Front) of the Guards, by September 1943 Lieutenant Peter Bochin had made three hundred and sixty-five sorties, as a result he destroyed dozens of tanks, blew up several warehouses, bridges, crossings and railway echelons. He took part in the battles for the liberation of the city of Melitopol, the Zaporozhye region of Ukraine. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated November 1, 1943, Lieutenant Peter Antonovich Bochin was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal (No. 1268) for exemplary performance of combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the Guard. He participated in the Soviet-Japanese War of 1945, after which he continued his service in the USSR Air Force. In 1947 he completed Higher Officer Flight Tactical Courses. Since 1963, Lieutenant Colonel P.A. Bochin was in reserve. He lived and worked in Moscow.
