Memorial complex “People of the world, stand up for a minute”
The memorial complex “People of the World, stand up for a minute” was dedicated to the memory of prisoners of Nazi concentration camps. The main components of the complex were three stelas made of black polished granite with artistic images of different “categories” of victims of Nazi death camps. The society of “Juvenile prisoners of Fascist concentration camps” in the Kuzminki area made a great contribution to the appearance of the memorial complex “People of the World, stand up for a minute”. Viktor Mikhailovich Lisovsky made an initiative proposal to build a similar complex in the Kuzminki area and developed a project for the memorial complex “People of the World, stand up for a minute.” The site on which the complex is located is on the territory of Yeseninsky Boulevard (Alley of Glory) between the memorial complex of the Hero Cities of the Soviet Union and the monument to the “Victorious Warrior”. The main components of the complex “People of the World, stand up for a minute”, reflecting the theme of prisoners of Nazi death camps during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, are three black granite slabs:
The left plate symbolizes juvenile prisoners who were subjected to camp torture during the Great Patriotic War. More than 2.5 million people were abducted from the occupied territory of the USSR, and only 1.5 million people returned.
The central plate, the lower part of the plate, symbolizes 5 million prisoners from the Soviet military, who were captured during the Great Patriotic War. The upper part of the slab is dedicated to the national memory of the victims of the concentration camps such as Buchenwald, Sachsenhausen, Dachau, Ravensbruck.
The right plate symbolizes the prisoners of men and women. During the Great Patriotic War more than 6 million people were stolen from the occupied territory of the USSR to work and only 3.5 million people returned.
