Belyaev

Pavel Ivanovich Belyaev was Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR No. 10, Master of Sports of the USSR. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Star and medals, including the K. E. Tsiolkovsky Gold Medal of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He flew into space as the commander of the Voskhod-2 spacecraft on March 18-19, 1965. During the flight, the co-pilot of the spacecraft, A. A. Leonov, made a spacewalk for the first time in the world. A bust was erected in honor of P.I. Belyaev in 1967. The bust made strictly with a portrait likeness. Pavel Belyaev is depicted on the shoulders. Commemorative inscription is «Pilot-cosmonaut of the USSR Pavel Belyaev». It is part of a sculptural group consisting of five busts installed in 1967: there are sculptures of Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova to the left direction of Belyaev and there are sculptures of Alexey Leonov and Vladimir Komarov to the right direction of Belyaev. All monuments made in the same way.
