Svetlana Evgenievna Savitskaya is a famous Soviet cosmonaut, test pilot, teacher. She is the world’s first female cosmonaut to go into outer space. She has a scientific degree of Candidate of Technical Sciences, the rank of colonel of the USSR Air Force. She is the only woman in the USSR who was honored to become a Hero of the Soviet Union twice. She was a member of the CPSU since 1975. Svetlana Evgenievna Savitskaya was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR from 1989 to 1991. She is Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation II-VII convocations since 1995. A bust in honor of Svetlana Evgenievna Savitskaya was installed in 2016. It is made of bronze and mounted on a granite pedestal. Svetlana Evgenievna Savitskaya has a Gold Star medal on her chest.
